Amazing iPad Animations!

“5 static images on an iPad are brought to life by passing a transparent sheet with black lines over the screen. These animations use the same concept as my other videos. The only difference is, the images in this video are on a screen instead of printed on a piece of paper. Ever since I first created my first animated optical illusion years ago I have always wondered if the concept would work on a screen. Sure enough! It does. This took about a week to produce. Everything had to be absolutely exact for the effect to work. I used photoshop to created the 2D animations and Lightwave 3D to create the 3D animations.”

Digital Waterfall

“The next time you happen to be in ION Orchard, look out for the waterfall running down from the fourth floor – it is no ordinary waterfall. Created by the British art and design firm Troika, the ION Digital Waterfall uses a cascade of hundreds of flip-dots that are controlled by a computer, to create the mesmerizing abstract waves of water that seem to shower down onto the onlookers below. ION Waterfall is the latest addition to the mega mall’s collection of artworks which includes the larger than life Nutmeg & Mace by local artist Kumari Nahappan and the Urban People figurines by Swiss sculptor Kurt Laurenz Metzler. London based design collective Troika created this Digital Waterfall sculpture installation at ION Orchard. It makes use of flip-dot technology to create the illusion of flowing water. The flip-disc display (or flip-dot display) is an electromechanical dot matrix display technology used for large outdoor signs.”
